Description

Strong movement begins with a solid foundation.

In this guided session, Sonja explores foundational rotation throughout the body and how seemingly small movements at the feet, ankles, hips, pelvis, and spine can influence the way the body moves as a whole.

The session begins with breathing and body awareness before progressing through exercises for the feet and toes, ankle and shin rotation, hip movement, pelvic control, spinal rotation, shoulder engagement, and hand and wrist movement. The emphasis is on working with control, using support when needed, and becoming more aware of how different parts of the body contribute to stability and movement.

In this session, you’ll explore:

  • Foundational breathing and diaphragm awareness
  • Foot and toe articulation
  • Ankle and lower-leg rotation
  • Hip rotation and lower-body control
  • Pelvic movement and stabilization
  • Spinal side bending and rotation
  • Shoulder and upper-body support
  • Hand and wrist rotation
  • How rotation contributes to coordinated, supported movement

Sonja encourages viewers to work within a comfortable range and use additional support whenever needed.

Equipment:

  • Rubber or elastic resistance band
  • Yoga block, bolster, or pillow for support
